Position Summary:
The Director, Total Store Planning is accountable for leading the Total Store Planning team to identify, through analysis of both internal and external data, opportunities and risks for Merch Comp focus stores.
The Director will build strong working relationships with critical business partners such as Regional Planning, Merchandising Forecasting, Allocation, Location Planning, Real Estate and Field leaders to collaborate, influence and align on the successful execution of key store strategies.
As a thought leader who is solutions oriented, the Director will identify best practices and new ways of working to drive process efficiencies and effectiveness for the team. Additionally, the Director will cultivate a collaborative and results oriented environment that supports associate learning and development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In Season
Store Forecasts:
- Lead the weekly validation review process for Sales and Inventory forecasts for key focus stores and present to VP for alignment on forecast changes.
- Partner with Forecasting and Allocation teams to address inventory opportunities.
- Work cross functionally to identify root causes to large forecast anomalies; recommend solutions to correct/enhance systems and processes for improved forecasts.
- Provide Regional Planning with significant store-level developments (i.e. weather impacts) to be incorporated into their regional targets.
- Monitor and evaluate unique stores (i.e. Border, Beach, Tourist) performance to determine any regional or product level opportunities.
- Monitor Store Density and partner with VP and Forecasting Team on solutions for stores that are approaching or exceeding max density.
Store Process:
- Lead the team in researching and responding to field store questions and callouts in a timely manner. Ensure findings and recommendations are based on thorough analysis and supporting data.
- Responsible for managing store closing processes, permanent or relocation, partnering with allocations on store eligibility.
- Maintain Store Master List for store classification, partner with Real Estate on updated store trade area information and partner with Location Planning on key merchandise limited lists.
- Responsible for providing Store Visit Reports for Executive Leadership Store Visits.
- Provide Store Operations teams with monthly store sales and inventory plans.
- Lead the team in UAT testing for select 2.0 systems or tools on an as needed basis. Provide clear and detailed recaps on testing and offer solutions to issues that need to be resolved.
Pre-Season
- Provide Region Planning re-stated history for recently transitioned merch comp stores, to incorporate into their Pre-Season guidance.
- Partner with New Store Planning to review and align on store classifications: Merch Comp vs. New and Non-Comp status.
- Partner with Real Estate on cannibalization estimates, quantify monthly impacts by store.
- Conduct quarterly hindsights for focus stores. Share findings with Regional Planning and Forecasting teams where applicable.
- Provide Store Leadership Teams with the Pre-Season OP Inventory Plans by Store, for visibility to merchandise strategies and potential impacts to store’s merchandise presentation.
- Provide Store Operations teams with monthly store sales and inventory plans to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Lead and Develop the Total Store Planning Team
- Leads and Develops Team through coaching in the moment and assessing the team effectively.

Education: Bachelors degree
Experience: Minimum 5 years related work experience in Planning, with experience in Regional or Location Planning preferred
