The Damages & Returns Operations Coordinator supports the DC Merchandise Disposition Supervisor, DC Operations, Buyers, and Vendors by researching, problem-solving, physically handling merchandise, and performing inventory adjustments. This role manages merchandise returns (RTV), recalls, inbound and in-house damages, and non-Burlington products. It also assists with special projects such as donations, sample sales, and quality inspections.
A Day In The Life:
Inspect and process inbound and in-house damages according to Burlington’s SOPs.
Initiate and manage the RTV (Return to Vendor) process:
Validate merchandise.
Complete RTV documentation and system entries.
Communicate with Buyers, Vendors, and Vendor Operations for timely disposition and return authorizations.
Prepare merchandise for return, donation, or sample sales.
Calculate and enter chargebacks and freight claims.
Perform physical tasks including:
Handling, sorting, repackaging, and labeling merchandise.
Using RF scanners and computer systems for inventory adjustments.
Assist with special projects, including receiving, inventorying, inspecting, and preparing product for donation or sale.
Research, manage inventory, and resolve issues using multiple computer systems.
Escalate issues appropriately and keep supervisors informed of key updates.
Conduct month-end inventory counts to support financial reporting and adjustments.
Train temporary labor and operational associates as needed on processes and SOPs.
Support other DC departments and shifts as needed.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, adhering to all safety policies.
You'll Come With:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Fluent in English (verbal and written).
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and reasoning skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through.
Competency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Ability to compose professional communications to vendors and buyers.
Flexible and able to adapt to shifting priorities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience:
General warehouse/distribution center experience preferred.
RF Scanner experience a plus.
Excellent attendance and punctuality required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to bend, lift, squat, kneel, climb, and reach repeatedly.
Ability to lift/move cartons up to 50 lbs regularly.
Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments (hot summers, cold winters).
Accurate data and number entry skills.
