Burlington is hiring a Building Maintenance Technician, reporting into our Manager, Corporate Facilities. The primary function of this role is to support the operational needs of conference and event planning, HR programs, associate and furniture moves as well as building and property safety and aesthetics. In this role you will perform the required tasks on a routine/daily and as needed basis with an emphasis on customer service. This is a non-exempt, full-time position in our corporate office in Burlington, New Jersey.
A Day in the Life:
- Coordinate and execute all Conference and Special Event Set-ups at Kingsbury, Burlington and EWP locations and assure all event furniture is in good repair and ready for use.
- Perform exterior and interior maintenance tasks as needed (snow/ice management, associate moves, janitorial, etc.) movement of associates and furniture and policing of grounds.
- Respond to, and assist as needed, in building emergency matters such as plumbing leaks, power failure, fire, etc…
- In coordination with the Manager Merchandise Samples, complete tasks as assigned related to the merchandise donation & surplus process. Assist with sample merchandise disposition and transportation.
- Contribute to the daily upkeep of corporate buildings and grounds including but not limited to physical assets such as office furniture, golf carts and company trucks/vans and other duties as assigned.
You Will Come With:
- Basic reading, writing, and oral language skills.
- Must possess an entry level familiarity of basic maintenance tasks.
- Basic Plumbing, Electrical and Carpentry skills are necessary. Exhibits a basic understanding of simple maintenance tasks
- Willingness and ability to follow and manage a schedule of tasks
- Ability to effectively perform or assist with repairs and needed tasks under emergency situations.
- Successful candidate must possess a strong sense of urgency.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Must have a working knowledge of Computers, Email and the ability to use Burlington’s maintenance management software application, Service Channel.
- High School Degree or equivalent, Trade School degree or certificate a plus.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out detailed, written, multi-step instructions.
- Ability to read and write in the English language.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to communicate via telephone and text messaging systems.
- Ability to Lift 50 lbs repeatedly
- Capable of sending/receiving/reading/responding to emails
- Travel requirements: Minimal – Local, between area sites
- Ability to safely climb a ladder up to 30’ and willing and able to work from high equipment such as scaffolding, mechanical lifts, ladders and roofs at a height of up to 5 stories.
