Overview

The Supply Chain Program Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the supply chain organization by assisting with the program management of new distribution center buildouts and redesigns/retrofits of existing centers. This role is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and integration phases to ensure that project goals are successfully achieved.

 

The Supply Chain Program Manager will help direct and monitor the construction of new distribution centers and other supply chain projects. By actively participating in the execution of these projects, the role ensures that all initiatives are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications. This position also ensures effective communication and coordination among all departments impacted by each project, keeping them informed of their responsibilities and the potential impact on their operations.

 

A Day In The Life:

  • Assist in directing and tracking the construction of new distribution centers and other supply chain projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and as designed, by coordinating across departments.
  • Develop and implement project plans using project management tools, ensuring tasks are completed and results are measurable.
  • Communicate project status to management and stakeholders, identifying and escalating risks as needed.
  • Maintain a project repository for all relevant drawings and documents.
  • Engage in the full project lifecycle, from conception to operational ramp-up and vendor punch list close-out.
  • Conduct due diligence on project costs, capacity, and timing assumptions.
  • Analyze design concepts to improve productivity and flow within distribution centers.
  • Ensure material handling and software designs meet operational and engineering needs while achieving business objectives.
  • Support capital projects with work sampling, ROI justification, and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Develop recommendations based on throughput constraints, work methods, and ergonomics.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external resources (consultants, contractors) to meet business requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction, and greenfield distribution center construction.
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and auditing best practices.
  • Expertise in capital project development, maintenance, and implementation.
  • Experience in cost analysis for project justification.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement budget-conscious solutions.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (moderate to advanced level).
  • Skilled in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Experience with distribution center operations in a national logistics network.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, operations research, and line balancing.
  • Knowledge of material handling systems design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with Manhattan Associates Supply Chain Suite.
  • Familiarity with Dematic or Daifuku WCS functionality.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while conducting data analysis/reporting.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds during system start-ups or testing.
  • Up to 25% travel annually.
