Overview

As Director of IT Operations, you will lead the operational management of mission-critical systems and services within the organization. This role will be responsible for overseeing Major Incident Management, managing a 24/7 command center, data center operations, enterprise monitoring, job scheduling, and building automation for alerting and monitoring. You will also leverage machine learning to detect and resolve issues proactively, reducing system downtime and enhancing operational efficiency.

 

A Day In The Life

24/7 Command Center Operations:

  • Oversee the operation of a 24/7 command center responsible for monitoring and supporting critical infrastructure and applications.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between on-site and remote teams during critical periods.
  • Oversee enterprise-wide monitoring solutions to ensure that all critical systems and services are proactively monitored.
  • Manage and optimize enterprise job scheduling to ensure critical tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

Service Delivery

  • Major Incident Management: Own the end-to-end process of major incident management, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
  • Act as the escalation point for high-priority incidents, driving resolution and communication with stakeholders.
  • Oversee and manage end-to-end deployment process for IT systems, applications and infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Lead a team of IT operators and support personnel, providing direction and ensuring 24/7 coverage through on-call scheduling.

Operational Excellence:

  • Develop and refine processes to ensure consistent operational performance and continuous improvement.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to track the performance of operational functions, including system uptime, incident response times, and automation efficacy.
  • Drive automation initiatives for alerting and monitoring to minimize manual intervention and increase operational efficiency.
  • Leverage machine learning (ML) tools to identify patterns in operational data, enabling proactive error detection and self-healing capabilities.

Data Center Management:

  • Manage the physical and virtual environments within data centers, ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and security.
  • Develop and implement data center strategies that align with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

 

 To Be Successful You Should Possess

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field;
  • 8+ years of experience in IT operations or similar roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience in managing data centers, enterprise monitoring, job scheduling, and incident management.
  • Strong understanding of automation tools, monitoring platforms, and machine learning technologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Experience with building and managing 24/7 operational teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
