Position Summary:
Reporting to the SVP of Infrastructure and Operations, the VP of IT Infrastructure will lead the strategy and teams responsible for Systems Administration, Database Administration, Networking, Telecom, Infrastructure Engineering & Modernization and Cloud Adoption for the organization. As we advance Burlington’s capabilities and competencies in this space, this executive leader will lead teams through design, development and successful implementation of various infrastructure initiatives, projects and technology. This individual will proactively work with leaders in IT, Business Stakeholders, Senior Management and the Executive team to define a clear roadmap for Infrastructure, leveraging latest technology trends, and implement best practices and methodologies that meet defined objectives and standards.
Other responsibilities include effective management of a multi-million-dollar budget, supporting Burlington’s business continuity initiatives, vendor relationship management, and building lasting partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent leadership, team building, talent assessment, mentoring, coaching, motivational and communication skills are required for this highly visible role. The right candidate will create a culture of ownership, accountability, effective risk management and demonstration of risk awareness across the organization. The candidate will also have a proven record of delivering tangible results by successfully completing major initiatives on time and exceeding expectations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and enhance the enterprise strategy for Infrastructure in partnership with peers, business leaders and executive stakeholders
- Build an Infrastructure roadmap that is aligned with the established strategy and the business objectives supporting the short and long-term goals of the organization
- Communicate a clear plan for executing the infrastructure strategy and ensure alignment across IT teams
- Partner consistently with Business and IT stakeholders on prioritization of major initiatives and projects with effective Portfolio Management
- Bring thought leadership to Burlington’s technology and broader executive leadership teams on Infrastructure trends, recommendations and best practices
- Develop strong, independent leadership teams that assumes ownership and responsibility for each of their areas, personnel, and issues
- Ensure “Coaching in the Moment” practices are followed by teams regarding performances and addressing employee performance proactively
- Establish clear metrics for performance evaluation, assess talent within area of responsibility and ensure that resources have subject matter expertise
Management
- Lead and manage a large team of System Administration, Database Administration, Networking, Telecom, Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering professionals along with external vendors and service providers
- Execute short and long-term initiatives and projects in partnership with Applications and Business teams
- Ensure appropriate communications are in place for consistent updates of status on problems and projects
- Ensure teams are accountable for quality of solutions and services provided, ensuring continuous actions are in place to measure and improve
- Manage and allocate multi-million-dollar capital and expense budgets supporting the infrastructure needs of the organization and ensure that expense spend is cost optimized
- Oversee external support agreements and strategic partnerships required to ensure these partnerships meet department and company goals.
- Challenge current processes and procedures to improve capabilities of the operation, minimize costs, and improve system(s) availability, functionality, and usability
- Drive operational efficiencies through better technology solutions, partnerships, and leveraging internal resources and external partnerships.
- Leverage established industry expertise and external network to inform recommendations and best practices
- Be visible and available to handle critical issues during normal hours and after hours as required to ensure continued business operations.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or equivalent
Experience:
- 15 years of IT experience
- 7 years of management experience
- Retail environment experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent time management, planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact across a broad range of organizational levels and functions
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Training and experience with various areas of financial reporting and controls. Experience in data mining
